POSITION:       MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN

(Social Worker or Psychologist)

         

TYPE:              Temporary Full-Time (1 year) 

                       

 

POSITION SCOPE:

Works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and participates in the planning, development, provision and evaluation of mental health services for child and adolescent populations in accordance with the Mission Statement, Standards, Policies and Procedures of South West Health.  South West Health is an organization committed to advancing the delivery of safe and trusted health service.  Accountable to the District Manager, Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Addiction Services or designate for all clinical duties and for mental health promotion activities.  For patients co-treated with psychiatrists, clinical issues are a shared responsibility.  Travel within the area of service in the district may be required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Minimum of Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Social Work and currently registered or on the candidates register in Nova Scotia with the appropriate regulatory body required.

·         Two (2) years recent clinical experience in mental health required.

·         Demonstrated ability and interest working with children and youth

·         Ability to work independently, yet work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

·         Ability to carry out responsibilities as outlined in the job description.

·         Ability to seek and accept clinical supervision and consultation in the management of patients.

·         Supervisory, teaching &/or community experience considered an asset.

·         DSM training, or willingness to obtain.

·         Suicide Risk Assessment Program, or willingness to obtain.

·         Fluency in both English and French considered an asset.

·         Holds a current Nova Scotia driver’s license and has access to a reliable vehicle.
