There is metered parking and daily parking passes available for on-site parking in the day. The following rates apply:
- Metered parking: $1 per hour
- Daily parking passes: $5 per day
- All onsite parking is free between the hours of 6 p.m. to 8 a.m.
Daily parking passes are available to buy from the parking office. The parking office is located inside the main doors of the Hugh Bell Service Centre.
WiFi and Internet Access
WiFi is only available in the Health Sciences Library located in the Hugh Bell Service Centre. A password is required. There are also public computers available in the library.
Semi-private and Private Rooms in Nova Scotia Hospitals
- Private room: Includes one bed and one washroom. You can find current rates here.
- Semi-private room: Includes two beds separated by curtains and one washroom. You can find current rates here.
Space in our private and semi-private rooms is limited. The sooner we have your insurance information the more likely we are to be able to accommodate your request.
When the booking clerk calls with your hospital admission date, let them know you are interested in a private or semi-private room.

During your stay at the hospital, you will receive breakfast, lunch and supper daily. If you follow a special diet or have food-related allergies or sensitivities, let us know when you arrive. Food is provided based on your doctor’s diet order. Please check with nursing staff if you have any questions about ordering your food.
The E.C. Purdy Building is located at the Nova Scotia Hospital site, and is one of several facilities providing a broad range of mental health and addictions services within the Nova Scotia Health Authority. A fully accredited teaching facility affiliated with Dalhousie University, the hospital is part of an overall structure integrating mental health and addictions programs and services across the province.
