The emergency department is located through the main entrance of the hospital. Please register at the front desk when you arrive. The department is open 24 hours, seven days a week.

To access the mental health mobile crisis team call 902-429-8167 or toll-free at 1-888-429-8167. This is a 24 hour, seven days a week phone service to help you or your loved one cope with mental health and addiction challenges in the moment.

Free public WiFi
We make every effort to make sure your stay with us is as comfortable as possible. Patients requiring semi-private or private rooms for medical reasons always have priority; however, private or semi-private rooms may be available on request.
Private room: $175 per day - Includes one bed and one washroom.
Semi-private room: $155 per day - Includes two beds separated by curtains and one washroom.
Ward room: Covered under your Nova Scotia Health Card (MSI) - Includes three or four beds (separated by curtains) and one washroom.
Space in our private and semi-private rooms is limited. The sooner we have your insurance information the more likely we are to be able to accommodate your request.
When the booking clerk calls with your hospital admission date, let them know you are interested in a private or semi-private room.
When you are admitted, be sure to have your private insurance card with you and let the admitting clerk know you have requested a private or semi-private room.
TV and Phone in your Room
TV and phone services are available in all inpatient rooms.
TV and cable are available in all inpatient care areas, free of charge.
Bedside phone service is available in all inpatient rooms. There is a fee for this service. Instructions for setting up the phone service are located on the bed
Inpatients are provided with daily meals. Below are the approximate meal times:
- Breakfast: 8:30 a.m.
- Lunch: noon
- Supper: 5 p.m.
Spiritual Spaces and Quiet Rooms
There are full-time and volunteer religious and spiritual care workers available. Staff can help families or patients contact a Chaplain.
Guysborough Memorial Hospital serves the health care needs of the residents of communities in Guysborough County. The hospital has a partnership with the Guysborough Youth Health Center and is adjacent to the Milford Haven Home for Special Care.
