Community Partnerships Pay Off:

New Physician Joins South West Health Team in Shelburne

A successful community recruitment effort has resulted in another new physician to serve the people of Shelburne County.

South West Health joins the community in welcoming Dr. Charles Wambulwa who began work at the Roseway Hospital last week. Dr. Wambulwa will not be setting up an office practice, but instead will be working full-time in the Roseway Emergency Department. The addition of Dr. Wambulwa to the team will mean the local emergency department will be open more hours to serve the residents of Shelburne County.

“When the local community gets behind efforts to recruit new health care providers, the chances of success are much greater,” said Blaise MacNeil, CEO of South West Health. “Along with Jodi Ybarra, Site Manager at Roseway Hospital, I want to thank the local municipal units and the local recruitment committee for their continued partnership with South West Health.“

Dr. Wambulwa received his medical degree with honors in Psychiatry from Howard University College of Medicine, Washington, DC in 2006. He completed a two year residency; one year in emergency medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, and the second year in family medicine at Montgomery Hospital,   Norristown, Pa.

Dr. Wambulwa has been very involved in the communities in which he has served, and has participated in many outreach activities including Inspire a Life Outreach Ministry, St. Freida Medical Center, Kitale, Kenya; as well as Food and Friends; and So Others May Eat.

All of South West Health welcomes Dr. Charles Wambulwa and his family to our area.
