Chronic heart failure (CHF) is when your heart has problems pumping blood
through your body. The clinic at Digby General Hospital can help teach the
patient and family about managing CHF so that it reduces the need to be admitted
to the hospital. The clinic is held about every 5-6 weeks in the Consultants
Clinic area of the Digby General Hospital. Patients visiting the clinic are
followed regularly.
You can refer yourself by calling the Consultant’s Clinic at 245-2502 ext.
3282. Your doctor or other health care professional can refer you as well.
Hospital services for you and your community have been supported by your

The Digby & Area Health Services
Charitable Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization committed to
maintaining Digby General Hospital’s high standards of patient care.
The Foundation provides support to supplement the level of capital funding
already provided through regular sources. This support goes toward any area of
need in the hospital, be it medical equipment, facilities or patient enrichment
projects.
In this way, Digby General will continue to excel in patient care. Just as it
relies on your continued encouragement, Digby General will increasingly rely on
donations from people like you for its support. Please consider the value of
Digby General Hospital to Digby County and help the hospital continue its care.

The cafeteria is located on the ground floor, near the lobby. It is open to the
public from Noon – 1:00 p.m. (Monday to Friday). Visitors can eat in the
cafeteria or take their tray back to the patient’s room.
We appreciate any comments or suggestions that you may have about our services. We randomly call patients once they return home to enquire about their satisfaction with their hospital stay.
A kettle and small fridge are located in the galley on the ward. Ask your nurse to show you the location. Food and beverages are stored there for patients’ use for nourishment between meals. Perishable food brought in to patients must be stored appropriately and not left at the bedside. Label it with patient’s name, room number and date. Always check with the nurse before eating this food, if you are on a special diet or fasting for tests.
Your friends & family can call you on the patient telephone number 245-6555. To connect the telephone for service, dial 499 on the bedside phone and follow the instructions on the phone. The hook-up fee and daily service charge will be billed to you directly on your home phone bill.
Visitors can use payphones on the second floor, in the Front Entrance and in the Emergency/OPD area, as well as in the waiting area for the Consultants’ Clinic – Basement Level.
No more than 2 people should visit at a time. Children should be with an adult. If you want extra privacy or find the number of visitors is tiring, please let us know. We can put a sign on you door asking your visitors to check with a nurse or limiting visitors to family only.
