Creating a Breastfeeding Support Line in Your Community

Senior's Abuse Line (toll free: 1-877-833-3377)

Providing information, referral, and support to seniors and others, this new resource is available to anyone who has a concern about a situation of inappropriate or abusive behaviour towards an older person or to anyone who simply wants to talk about their situation. This toll-free line is an initiative of the Nova Scotia Seniors’ Secretariat and operates Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Out-of-province callers can reach the Senior Abuse Line at (902) 424-3163.

Smokers' Helpline: 1-877-513-5333
The Canadian Cancer Society’s Smokers’ Helpline is a free, confidential telephone service anyone can call for easy access to a trained Quit Specialist. The quit specialists can help develop a structured “Quit Plan”, answer questions about quitting and refer to services in a caller’s community. The Smokers’ Helpline is open Monday to Thursday 9am - 10pm, Friday 9am to 7pm and weekends 10AM to 6PM. Service is available in both French and English. Motherisk Helpline: 1-877-327-4636
Motherisk is a helpline that provides a source for evidence-based information to:
 ● Women and girls who are pregnant
 ● Women and girls who are breastfeeding their child
 ● Health care providers
Motherisk can provide information on the risks to the unborn baby and breastfeeding child from drugs, chemicals, infections, diseases and radiation exposure(s). For more information, call the helpline or consult their website.
